Leadership Academy: How to Get on a Board of Directors & What They Do
How to Get on a Board of Directors & What They Do
"To be able to look back upon one's life in satisfaction is to live it twice." Khalil Gibran
In this session, you will learn actions you can take to build your career, elevate your leadership, and expand your influence.
"Serving on boards has made me a better businesswoman and has matured me as a human being along the way. I want the same for young, up-and-coming professionals in San Diego. Over the course of my 20-year business career, I've been blessed with a host of unforeseeable opportunities. From a chicken carver at Boston Market absent resources to go to college, I could hardly have imagined I would land myself a seat at the table with the President of the United States. In reflection, much of my career enjoyment and progression was born out of service on boards".
This session will focus on the nuts and bolts of learning what it takes to get on a Board of Directors and will focus on these topic areas:
- What's in it for me?
- Types of board service
- Testing your readiness
- How to build a vibrant network
- Creating a launching pad for your career
