What Employers Need To Know About California's New Paid Sick Leave
CA Assembly Bill 1522, aka ?Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014? requires California employers to begin providing paid sick leave benefits to all employees beginning in 2015. While this new law requires that the paid leave be provided beginning 7/1/2015, there are notice and record keeping requirements that require employer compliance effective 1/1/2015.
This new law applies to even small employers, and the paid sick leave benefits must be offered to all employees, including part-time and temporary employees.

Paul Neumann: Paul is currently a partner at Pacific HR Alliance, Inc. Paul served in several key operational positions with Penske Auto Centers before assuming the role of Regional Human Resources Director in the company's 20 state Western Region. Before leaving the Penske organization to co-found Pacific HR Alliance in 2014, Paul served as Regional Human Resources Director for Penske Automotive Group in California. Paul maintains a broad and very functional knowledge of employment related and compliance matters, coupled with years of operational experience in the retail automotive industry.
Jennifer Woo Burns: Jennifer is a licensed California attorney with an employment law background. She obtained a B.A. in English from U.C.L.A. and then a J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She practiced law in private law firms for approximately nine years, advising employers in legal compliance matters as well as defending employers in litigation and jury trials before transitioning to an in-house role as General Counsel for Cush Automotive Group for several years. She then joined Penske Automotive Group where she served as Human Resources and Compliance Manager over the Southern California region for about six years. She is currently a partner at Pacific HR Alliance, Inc., which provides Human Resources compliance and support services for employers.
