Poway Transmissions provides you all the information you ask for – upfront – no games – no hidden fees.  We’ve helped car owners make educated decisions about their vehicle repairs since 1981.

We explain what happened to your transmission – educate you about the various options and show you your broken parts.  Our customers tell us how easy it is to work with us – they notice a difference.  We tell you how to prolong the life of your transmission which saves you money.  We give you the inside scoop and teach you industry secrets. Transmissions have over 800 parts so make sure you’re dealing with the experts. We work on all makes and models.  We know the weak spots in some models and how to make them last longer. We stand behind what we do.  It saves you time and money when you get the job done right the first time.  We’re an award-winning shop that is proud of our reputation and our strong commitment to serving our community.

 

What products or services does your business provide?

Auto Repair – Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, Axles.

Preventative maintenance for your Transmissions – we recommend that you change your fluid every 20k miles.  Keeping fluid fresh helps your transmission last longer.  If you have any issues - slipping, leaks, noises, hesitates or won’t move at all - we always check it out for free.

Check engine light on?  We’ll give you the code for free.  Classic Cars to RV’s to daily drivers to racing Transmissions from mild to wild we handle them all.
 

What was the most memorable or successful moment in your business' history?

Karen – Any day that a customer comments that they appreciate the way we treat them with respect by letting them decide what is best for their vehicle and budget.

Eldon – Using my years of transmission knowledge to deal with a complicated repair that ends up satisfying our customer’s concerns. 

 

Tell us an interesting fact about your business.

We produce free classic car events called Madame Mechanic Car Shows at local street fairs – including at RB Alive! - each first Sunday in June.  It's a crowd-pleasing affair that exhibits America's automotive history.  Our community has an enormous variety of classic cars and amazing owners that like to showcase them and talk about their restoration projects and history. What tips/advice can you offer that is related to your business' industry?

Change your fluid regularly – it breaks down over time and then it’s metal against metal.  Don’t let anyone flush it – it can wash the varnish off your clutches, plug up your filter and could cause slippage.

To avoid issues only deal with shops that educate you about preventative maintenance and give you options.  Paperwork is key – get it in writing.  Your paperwork should include your vehicle's symptoms when you dropped off the vehicle, your quote for any repairs. Your final invoice should include:  how they resolved the issue, a parts list; labor costs and warranty information.  Any shop can buy advertising – they can’t buy a good reputation.  Ask around before you have someone touch your vehicle.
